About Kyne

Kyne Santos (he/him/she/her) is a math communicator, author, keynote speaker, mathematics graduate student, and world renowned drag queen.

Known as the math queen, Kyne makes popular educational videos on social media about math, science, history, and drag, which have been viewed more than 350 million times. She shows viewers that math is fun, artistic, and inclusive.

Born in Manila, Kyne immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 5, and grew up in Kitchener, Ontario. He started his YouTube channel where he posted vlogs, makeup tutorials, and the musings of a high school boy. He finished high school with the Schulich Leader Scholarship to study mathematics at the University of Waterloo, where he received a Bachelor of Mathematics with a Mathematical Finance major and a Pure Math minor.

Kyne began his drag career while at university, and in 2020, appeared on the first season of Canada’s Drag Race. Afterwards, he pivoted to TikTok to start sharing his love for math through short-form videos about riddles, theorems, history, and statistics, all while dressed in high-glamour drag. With an audience of over 2 million followers, Kyne spreads his passion for math education and scientific literacy, and brings STEM education to the queer community and queerness to STEM.

He also hosts a podcast (Think Queen), writes a weekly newsletter (The Math Queen Digest), and published a book, titled Math In Drag, which was a 2025 LA Times Book Prize Finalist.

Kyne has been awarded a King Charles III Coronation Medal by the Royal Canadian Institute of Science, as well as the top prize for the National Academies Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications.

She has also appeared on the first season of Canada’s Drag Race, and has been named among Forbes’s 30 Under 30 in Toronto and the Toronto Star’s 24 Top Creators.

Kyne’s list of partnerships include the Fields Institute, Scientific American, the Royal Canadian Institute for Science, BBC, CBC, NPR, the American Museum of Natural History, and Health Canada, among others.
